Review of The Missing Link
Recorded in two schools and a studio in Memphis in 1979, these 17 tracks capture 71-year old hobo minstrel Harmonica Frank Floyd in his natural environment -- with a guitar and mouth harp, playing age-old blues and folk songs for a small audience. Floyd was a living link to a pre-World War II America.

GRITS ’N’ GRAVY
The new Memphis International label debuts with three substantial albums of classic soul and blues. Carla Thomas is Live in Memphis, reprising classic Stax-of-wax soul-strutters like "When Something Is Wrong with My Baby" and "634-5789." B+.. Also on the label is a solo acoustic blues album from Alvin Youngblood Hart, Down in The Alley, so pure it was recorded in mono! B. But the real find of the bunch is The Missing Link, spotlighting veteran talent Harmonica Frank Floyd, an irascible old country blues codger. A.
